How Do I Get Rid Of Cellulite?

July 25, 2014

Ever been too shy to strut that bikini at the beach or the pool because of cellulite?  Well, you’re not alone.  Cellulite ─ or cottage cheese thighs or orange-peel skin (depending on who you ask) ─ affects an overwhelming majority of women at some point in their life.  Cellulite is an embarrassingly common condition and misinformation about it is even more common.

Cellulite may look and sound like a deadly medical condition, but cellulite is nothing more than clumps of fat collected underneath the skin.  Cellulite looks bumpy because it is fat that is pushed against connective tissue, causing the skin above it to pucker up.  While cellulite is not dangerous or harmful, it certainly can be an eyesore.

Cellulite does not affect overweight people only.  Skinny people can be affected as well.  Other factors that can contribute to accumulating cellulite are a poor diet, a slow metabolism and dehydration.  While a small minority of men can be affected, cellulite is an overwhelmingly female phenomena.  And while cellulite tends to be less noticeable on darker skin, people of any race or color can be affected.

Fortunately, you don’t have to hide your orange-peel thighs for all of eternity.  There are ways to fight and win the battle against bulging cellulite.  Follow the below tips to make sure that you can avoid cottage cheese thighs!

Avoid Excessive Sugar & Salt

One moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips.  This might sound like one of grandma’s old wives tales, but science has proven it true:  Over-indulging in junk food leads to long-term consequences for weight gain and health.  The same is true with cellulite!

Salt and sugar are two of the main culprits in creating cellulite.  Sugar may taste sweet in cakes, candy and other desserts, but unfortunately sugar gets stored in fat cells and causes these cells to expand.

Salt is not much better.  Salt, which is high in sodium, causes fluid retention, making cellulite appear even worse.

To pace your daily sugar and salt intake, consume no more than  6 teaspoons of sugar per day and 200 mg of salt.  The average American eats about 3,000 to 3,600 mg of sodium per day, so you might want to start avoiding overly-salty foods such as Ramen noodles, canned entrees such as soups or salted nuts.

Drink 8 – 10 Glasses of Water Daily

Eight glasses of water might seem like a tall order, but it’s not much when you consider how much water you lose through your breath, sweat, urine and bowel movements.  For your body to function optimally, it is necessary to replenish the water lost by consuming food and drink that contains water.

Drinking enough pure, clean water and organic hydration from fresh fruits or vegetables helps keep toxins flushing through you.  Hydrating yourself with enough water will decreased your chances of lumpy, aged cellulite.

Use A Laser-Treatment System

If you already have existing cellulite, you can avoid the high cost of liposuction by simply using a laser-treatment product such as  the ProBody Slim & Shape Anti-Cellulite Massager.  The ProBody is a do-it-yourself cellulite-removal device that uses completely safe infrared light to penetrate through the skin and break up fatty deposits.  By simply using ProBody Cellulite for just 10 to 15 minutes a day, you can significantly smooth out flabby, sagging areas of the body.  It’s much easier and less expensive than opting for a painful or costly plastic surgery procedure.

Eat Well & Exercise Regularly

While going to the gym and eating a healthier diet won’t physically spot-treat cellulite, dimples are much less obvious on strong, toned legs and hips.  Exercising and maintaining your weight also helps keep skin in tip-top shape.  Exercises that strengthen the thigh and butt area of your body are much more likely to minimize the appearance of cottage cheese lumps on your body.

While there is no 100% way to spot-treat cellulite, using these simple four tips will help you prevent, treat and minimize your risk of unsightly lumps of fat.
