4 Beauty Tips To Get The Most Out Of Your Skincare Products

July 22, 2014

Are you tired of buying expensive skincare products only to be disappointed by a lack of desired results?  Have you ever wondered why that cream or serum that everyone else swears by isn’t doing a thing for your own skin?  Well, before you become the girl that cries “defective product!” you might want to consider that you may not be applying your skincare products properly or in the right order.  How you apply your skincare products is just as important as what products you use.  Use these simple, easy-to-remember 4 tips to get the most out of your skincare regimen.

Cleanse thoroughly

In the morning, gently splash your face with lukewarm to warm water just to moisten the skin and to prepare it for the cleansing process.  This pre-wash also removes excessive oils from your nightly moisturizing routine.  Avoid washing your face with excessively hot or cold water which can cause broken capillaries.  After dabbing your face with water, gently apply a small amount (about the size of quarter) of your favorite cleanser onto your moist skin.  Different cleansers work more effectively depending upon whether you have normal, combination or oily-type skin.  The trick is to find the cleanser for your skin type that will effectively help scrub away makeup, dirt, oil and other impurities.  Massage your face with the cleanser from one to two minutes, being careful not to rub too vigorously.

Rinse thoroughly with warm water shortly afterwards.

Remember, cleansing the skin is only the first (but a very important) step in ensuring you get the best results for the rest of your skincare routine.

Exfoliate with a dermal roller

Exfoliating is often the most overlooked step in the skincare treatment, but it is arguably the most important.  As we age, our body’s cell turnover slows down and dead, flaky skin cells give us a dull (not to mention gross) appearance.  It’s important to exfoliate to a unclog pores which will better allow creams and serums to penetrate into the deep layers of the skin.  While expensive body and facial scrubs might or might not work, you’re more likely to get a better result simply by using a dermal roller such as the Ora Facial Skin Needle Roller.

Used by Hollywood aestheticians and celebrities for years, each individual Ora Dermal Roller contains 200 titanium needles that help gently penetrate the skin, stimulating collagen growth.  By rubbing the dermal roller over your skin, the exfoliating needles help open up micro-channels in the skin, allowing for maximum absorption of creams and serums into the deep layers of your skin.

Moisturize during the day and apply sunblock

Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize.  Any dermatologist or aesthetician worth their salt will tell you that the key to keeping your skin youthful and damage-free is to use a good moisturizer and to apply it throughout the day.  A good moisturizer should seal in moisture and be rich in antioxidant and nutrients.

However, one overlooked factor to proper skincare is UV protection from the sun.  The sun is the #1 culprit in producing wrinkles, freckles, brown spots and other visible signs of skin damage.  Therefore, a good 2-for-1 tip is to find a moisturizer that also has a sunblock with an SPF of 30 or more.

Moisturize with sunblock directly after exfoliating and apply throughout the day (every two to three hours) to maintain youthful and supple skin.

Moisturize between the hours of 10 pm and 11 pm

The skin repairs itself most effectively between the hours of 10 p.m. and 11 p.m.  Use this important window of time to apply your favorite night-time moisturizer.  Be sure to apply a night-time moisturizer that does not include UV protection.  Using a moisturizer with sunblock at night could aggravate your skin.

Follow-up your night-time moisturizing routine with a full eight hours of sleep.

By using these four simple tips, you could be saving your skin from wrinkles, crow’s feet and other skin nightmares. Protecting your skin now is the most important way to ensure that you look young and beautiful for years to come.
